When a person makes the decision to give their life to God by “receiving” Jesus as their savior, they have taken the FIRST step to becoming born again. However, the new birth ENTAILS MORE than professing Christ as your savior.
Believing on the Lord is certainly a great start, but it is in NO WAY a complete work of the New Birth – it is only a step in the right direction.
It’s necessary to emphasize this, because we have an avalanche of WATERED DOWN theology being published throughout major religious circles.
There are multitudes under the banner of Christianity that teach the New Birth is simply a “profession of faith” in Christ – THAT’S IT.
However this is NOT what the Bible teaches.
It was Peter who was given the ((keys)) of the kingdom of heaven directly from Jesus himself:
“And I (Jesus) will give unto thee (Peter) the KEYS OF THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19)
Since Peter was the man who was assigned the “Keys” to REVEAL the plan of Salvation, wouldn’t it make sense to follow the “SPECIFIC STEPS” that Peter instituted for the New Testament church to follow?
It should be of no surprise that the FIRST SERMON EVER PREACHED after the resurrection of Jesus, was given by the Apostle Peter. It was on the Day of Pentecost (the birth of the New Testament church) that Peter outlined in ONE SINGLE VERSE, the steps to becoming born again:
“Then Peter said unto them, REPENT, AND BE BAPTIZED EVERY ONE OF YOU IN THE “NAME” OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS, AND YE SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST.” (Acts 2:38)
These THREE steps are the VERY KEYS that reveals the process by which a person can become born again.
Have you obeyed Acts 2:38? If not – then there is no better opportunity than TODAY for you to experience the new birth.
THE THREE STEPS TO BECOMING BORN AGAIN ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1st – Repentance – (turn AWAY from sin)
2nd – Water Baptism “in Jesus name” – (washes away sins)
3rd – Be filled with the Holy Ghost (evidenced through speaking with tongues) – Acts 2:1-4
P.S.
If you need help locating a church that practices New Testament salvation according to Acts 2:38. Please message me and I will be happy to help you locate one.
