People Who Want to Contest Me Don’t Have NPP at Heart – Bugri Naabu

Tamale, Ghana – Controversial Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region, Daniel Bugri Naabu, has hinted that some party bigwigs seeking to contest him in an upcoming election in February do not have the party at heart.

Sounding very acerbic, he said some of the people contesting him for the chairmanship position have hidden opportunistic motives towards the good of the party.

“Such characters are not capable of running the affairs of the party” he said, and urged delegates to reject them outright at the polls otherwise they will destroy the NPP that he and others have built to be the envy of the opposition party when given the opportunity as leaders.

Outspoken Mr Naabu also accused his competitors of engaging in activities that are a manifestation of signs of corruption in their character, citing vote buying as a strategy they have adopted to canvass for votes in order to beat him in next month’s election.

But he shrugged it off and described their ‘money and gifts’ sharing campaign strategy as one that will not favour them at the long run because the history he made in 2014 will repeat itself.

Come February, Mr Naabu will be fiercely contested by the Northern Regional Coordinator of NADMO, Alhaji Abdallah Hindu, Chairman of the NPP in the Yendi Constituency,  Alhaji Amadu Inusah alias Dagomba Boy and Mohammed Adam Samba.

In 2014 when he stood for the chairmanship position during the regional elections of the party, there were lecturers, doctors and lawyers who competed against Mr Bugri Naabu also known as Chairman Bulldozer, but he said he eventually won as a retired military officer without good educational background.

He, however, urged party faithful to vote for people like him who has the competence and track record of doing alot of good to the party but not people with ulterior motives.
