Another Open Letter to DJ Tell

DJ Tell

Dear DJ Tell,

I thought my first letter to you would have been my last to you but I guess I would have to write to you again.

I am beginning to feel that your problem is ignorance and not an issue of bragging. You are even ignorant of the fact that you are ignorant and I think you must seek help.

Did I hear you say no music from the north crossed Yapei? Come on get serious with your audience. Stop disrespecting those who waste their time to listen to your program by analysing things properly.

If people like Wiyaala, King Ayisoba, Fancy Gadam, Stevo Atambire and the likes are performing to huge crowds across the world and you claim there is no northern music, I think you must quit radio and go into galamsey.

In the first place what is your understanding of music from the north? If King Ayisoba and Stevo Atambire’s style is not northern music then what is northern music? If Fancy Gadam and Wiyaala who sing mostly in their native languages are not doing northern music then what are they doing?

Your hatred for Fancy Gadam is causing you to lose your mind. If that young man filled the National Theater and the Bukom Boxing Arena is not doing well then I wonder who is doing appppa0a0well?

Can I also say your so called Adugali Brand is a sham? I say it’s a sham because you do nothing special on your show aside from throwing shades at people who disagree with you.

Though I don’t get to listen to Nash Iddi, I read his comments about music in Tamale and I take some lessons from it. However your pomposity makes you take digs at people who disagree with your thoughts and the earlier you tone down on your style, the better for you.

I have been with northern music since my secondary school days and you can find out from guys like Bitterfleshkaya Kaya, Don Sigli, Flexx and the rest and you will understand that unlike you, I have seen the growth of northern music and I feel proud of the guys.

Your penchant of always bragging about being technical is annoyingly disrespectful and some of us won’t take that crap from you. We will take it from Sheriff Ghale, Abu Sadik and Kawastone but not from you who does not know how to string notes together to create music.

I have a lot to say to you but I will pause here and encourage you to stop the hate against the Gadam brand because you can’t stop his shine.

your friend,

Lansah Musah
