N/R: Damongo NDC Youth Condemns Violent, Tribalistic Chairman Mobila

Damongo, Ghana – The Concerned NDC Youth of Damongo Constituency in the Northern Region of Ghana, has condemned what they said is the irresponsible actions of the Regional Chairman of the party which led to damage of properties and injuring of individuals.

A statement signed by Alhaji Fuseini Rambo, former Damongo Constituency Youth Organiser others, said they are shocked and disappointed by actions displayed by the Regional Chairman Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila,  stating that in the run up to the Regional Executive elections of the NDC, many of the NDC fraternity were of the belief that, the Regional Chairman who is of age would do better than any of his predecessors.

The group said at age 85 years, they thought the Regional Chairman would have had more wisdom to effectively administer the activities of the party in the region than resorting to violence when issues of misunderstanding crop up.

They said Chairman Ibrahim Mobila’s actions and inactions seemed too tribalistic and they condemn the actions meted out to his colleague Regional Executives.

“As youth of this great party, we respect all regulations and codes of ethics of the NDC and will always do whatever to raise the image of our great party. The NDC in the Northern Region of Ghana has enjoy peace for far long and will not be ready to accept any selfish leader who pretends to love the party” the group said.

According to the group, Chairman Ibrahim Mobila since day one has made many to believe that, he is not out to ensure the peaceful coexistence between Gonjas and the Dagombas but they want to put it on record that, Gonjas and Dagombas are brothers and have supported each other since time immemorial.

They said many Gonjas are married to Dagombas and vice-versa ans so if one inflict pain on a Dagomba, he has eventually inflicted pain on the Gonja.

The group explained that, the current constituency Chairman of the NDC for Damongo Constituency, Mr. Zakaria Ibrahim popularly called “Original Zack” is a Dagomba and that the Former Constituency Vice Chairman by name Alhaji Abdul Aziz is a Dagomba but led the NDC in Damongo for 24 years.

The group said their major worry is that, if there’s chaos in the Regional Executive front of the NDC, the best thing for Chairman Ibrahim Mobila to have done is to follow party structures for clarification and punishment if they are found guilty in accordance with the party’s constitution.

“What surprises us was the discriminatory nature exhibited by selectively dealing with individuals of the group instead of the entire Executive Board members who were part of the meeting. The Regional Chairman despite his perceived wisdom we believed he possessed goes on the contrary by boldly singling out individuals to be beaten and at the long-run destroyed their vehicles and other valuables”, they explained.

The Concerned NDC Youth of Damongo said the agenda of the NDC Regional Chairman is not hidden because the individuals selected and molested are Gonjas and we do not see why only Gonjas were beaten instead of the entire team.

They said the Regional Secretary Salisu Be-Awuribe and Ali Kassim are from Kusawgu and Damongo respectively and their position is that, if all the Executive members in the meeting were beaten they would not have a problem, but the two aforementioned personalities, that is the Regional Treasurer and Secretary were beaten mercilessly.

The group called for the Nothern Regional Chairman of the NDC to be brought to book or he apologise to all party members in the Northern Region.
