Tamale, Ghana – The Northern Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has “appointed a 9-member Regional Elections Committee to manage the party’s elections processes” scheduled to take place between January 26th and April 21st 2018.
According to a statement issued and signed by Director of Communications and Media Affairs, Issahaque A. Latif, the Committee is chaired by seasoned legal practitioner, Alhaji Abdulai Mohammed.
Other members of the Committee include Alhaji Zakaria Adams, Nana Boakye who is Regional Research and Electoral Affairs Director, Hajia Fati Abubakari, former Regional Women Organiser and Alhaji Mahamud Abdul-Rahaman.
The rest are Hajia Binala Victoria Naako, former Regional 2nd Vice Chairman, Mr. Issahaque A. Latif, Regional Director, Communication and Media Affairs, Mr. Osman Habib and Alhaji Adam Cockra.

PRESS RELEASE BY THE NORTHERN REGIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY
In pursuant to Article 7 (9) of the constitution of the New Patriotic Party, the Northern Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party has appointed a 9 member Regional Elections Committee to manage the party’s elections processes in the upcoming Polling Station, Constituency and Regional Elections.
The Committee is chaired by a seasoned legal practitioner, Alhaji Abdulai Mohammed, and includes:

3. Nana Boakye, Regional Research and Electoral Affairs Director
4. Hajia Fati Abukari, Fmr Reg. Women Organizer
5. Alhaj Mahamud Abdul-Rahaman
6. Hajia Binala Victoria Naako, Fmr. Reg. 2nd Vice Chairman
7. Mr. Issahaque A. Latif, Reg. Director, Communication and Media Affairs
8. Mr. Osman Habib
9. Alhaji Adam Cockra
In a similar vein, the Regional Executive Committee also appointed Hajia Hawa Bawa Doshie and Hajia Mame Musah as Northern Regional Representatives to the National Council. This appointment has been occasioned by the vacancies created as a result of the appointments, by H.E. the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo, of Hajia Samata Gifty Abukari and Hajia Fati Forgor, to the high offices of Councillor General and High Commissioner of UAE and Namibia respectively.
The Northern Regional Executive Committee also took the decision to lift the indefinite suspension that was placed on Hajia Mohammed Safia, the Deputy Regional Women Organizer. This decision was arrived, among other things, by her apology to the Regional Executive Committee and her pledge to be of good behavior and, overall, by the intervention of the Yagbon Tuntunba Boresa II, the Overlord of the Gonja Traditional Area, on her behalf. Because of the enormous respect the New Patriotic Party in the region has for our father, the Yagbon Wura, the Executive Committee has reviewed its disciplinary action on Hajia Mohammed Safia, and she has therefore been recalled to function in her post as the Deputy Regional Women Organizer of the New Patriotic Party in the Northern Region.
