Buipe, Ghana – David Avorgbedor alias Sabu, a contractor of the Savannah Cement Company Limited (Savacem) at Buipe in the Central Gonja District, whose employee lost his right arm through a machine, says he is ready to compensate him and take full responsibility of the upkeep of his six children and wife.
Mr Sabu said he was not in town when Dogbey Dotsey had the accident, but he instructed his supervisor David Gbororzy on duty to take care of all the medical bills which he did, refuting earlier media reports that his employee had been neglected.
“I am a sub-contractor of Savacem and employed Dotsey to work for me as a mechanic and so any responsibility of Dotsey including his medical bills and that of his family have become my responsibility now that he is handicapped ” he said.
Mr Sabu further explained that, he has a cordial relationship with Dotsey and that made him to move him from Afloa to Buipe.
“I have met with the family of Dotsey and I’m ready to take care of Dotsey’s children education, and other family responsibilities” he promised.
On 24th February 2018 Mr Dotsey who was operating a machine at the factory suddenly realised the machine had stopped working and decided to work on it by himself but ended up losing his arm.
According to him, he had to pay for the cost of his medical treatment until other people learned about his plight and started talking about it on social media which attracted the attention of his employer.
Though the family of Dotsey have agreed to take the compensation, there is no amount of money mentioned neither do they know the weight of compensation package.
