Nandom, Ghana – Member of Parliament for the Nandom Constituency and Ghana’s Minister for The Interior, Lawyer Ambrose Dery, made several donations to his constituents during the Easter holidays.
Mr. Dery donated medical equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer to the St. Theresa’s Hospital otherwise known as the Nandom Hospital.
This kind gesture followed a free cervical cancer screening he organised in March this year.
Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Robert Amesiya and his management team were excited and used the opportunity to ask for more support.
According to Dr. Amesiya, the hospital beds and mattresses needed to be changed because they had outlived their usefulness.
He also appealed to Mr. Dery to help furnish the surgical ward of the hospital.
The Nandom Hospital now has seven (7) medical doctors of which two (2) are specialists.
The Kokoligu Primary School also received One Hundred and Sixty (160) dual desks to aid teaching and learning.
Furthermore, two women groups at Bezum and Dabagteng received grinding mills with the assurance of training them in soap making. This is to discourage the women especially young girls from travelling to the Southern part of the country in search of nonexistent jobs.
At Danko, Dumangye, Bukong and Baselbe, the MP inaugurated for use, four (4) boreholes which would go a long way to address the perennial water problem in those communities during the dry season.
The inauguration of these 4 boreholes now brings the total number of boreholes drilled by the MP to 35 within a one year in parliament.
Moreover, while electrification works in Bulegangn and other adjoining communities is ongoing, the road from Lawra Municipality to the Nandom District, Nandom township to Nandom Senior High School, St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Basilica and the road from Nandom town to Hamile has been tarred too.
