Tamale, Ghana – Telecommunication company, MTN Ghana, as part of their tradition of supporting the Muslim community in the annual celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, has donated several items worth hundreds of Ghana cedis to the Northern Regional Chief Imam.
The company also made a cash donation of Ghc2,000.00 and Ghc300.00 worth of airtime. “In a few days, Ramadan would be coming to an end and Muslims in Ghana and around the world will be celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr.
“For this reason, we are here today to extend our warmest regards and most sincere wishes from the management and staff of MTN to you for the relationship we have enjoyed with the Muslim community over the past 11 years”, Kwasi Osei Hyeaman, Area Sales Manager in charge of the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions said this when he made the donation Wednesday June 13, 2018 at the Tamale Central Mosque.
The items included bags of rice, cartons of vegetable oil and tinned tomatoes, boxes of mineral water, packs of soft drinks and a ram.
MTN Ghana over the last decade has always extended its support to the Muslim community in various ways such as the annual donation to the National Chief Imam, Regional Chief Imams in Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale and sponsorship of Sallafest in Nima and Accra Newtown. The 19th edition of Nima Sallafest 2018 which is the largest gathering of Muslims in Accra and Accra Newtown would also be sponsored by MTN.
“We continue to support the Hajj Board with our products to facilitate their work. Last year, MTN refurbished the lodging area at the Hajj Village with over Ghc200,000.00” Mr. Hyeaman noted.
Secretary to the Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Abdulai Habibu Mohammed, thanked the donation team from MTN Ghana after receiving the items.
According to him, Ramadan is a very significant aspect of Islam which teaches values such as truthfulness, integrity and honesty that are good for individuals and businesses.
“We hope that the Muslims in MTN will exhibit these values along the line such that everybody will recognise that these are Muslims and with that the business will triumph. We are happy that you have come to celebrate with us in the Eid-ul-Fitr which marks the end of the Ramadan”, he said.
