NPP Boys Lock up Zoomlion Office in Walewale

Walewale, Ghana – Frustrated members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) seeking jobs in Walewale, the West Mamprusi district capital Wednesday morning shut down the Zoomlion agency in the municipality, the local head of the agency, Abdulai Mashud confirmed to Starr News.

About nine muscled men intruded with padlocks and locked the faciility after accusing the district manager of being a staunch member of the opposition National Democratic Party (NDC).

According to the manager, the men told him they had secured a letter from the Municipal Chief Executive, Mohammed Abu, endorsing their action and that they were removing him for being a member of the NDC.

“They came Wednesday morning and told me to get out, that they are here lock the place. They said my time is up because my party (NDC) is no more in power. They showed me a recommendation letter and claim it is coming from the MCE. So they drove me out and locked the place with three padlocks. I also added my own padlock to prevent them from taking anything from the office later,” Abdulai Mashud told a local reporter.

The men also drove out staff of the agency and told them not to return because they were going to be replaced by members of the NPP.

The manager said the incident had been reported to the regional executives but they instructed him not to report to police.
The Municipal Police Commader DSP Sarpong Bempah told Starr News that the attack was yet to be reported but said men would be dispatched to the scene.

The MCE Mohammed Abu in an interview on Starr Today confirmed that the NPP youth locked the office but denied ordering them to do so.

According to him, after calling the leader of the youth to reopen the facility, they defied his order and still kept the office locked. He added that the matter has been reported to the Police and enough security would be provided for the workers there.
