Accra, Ghana – The Accra Circuit Court has remanded Lance Corporal Godzi Frederick Amanor, the police officer who was caught on video assaulting a 36-year-old grandmother who was carrying her 2-month-old grandchild, at Midlands Savings and Loans, almost a week ago.
Skalla, as the officer is known by his moniker, appeared in court on Thursday, 26 July and was charged with assault.
The court was presided over by Mrs Jane Harriet Akweley Quaye.
The officer, who has been widely condemned on social media over the brutality, pleaded not guilty and was remanded to reappear on 8 August 2018.
Even President Nana Akufo-Addo condemned the assault and gave the IGP his 100 per cent backing in disciplining the errant officer.
In the video that went viral on social media, an AK47-wielding Lance Corporal Amanor was seen dishing out blows and slaps at Patience Osafo at the Shiashie branch of Midland Savings and Loans.
