Tamale, Ghana – The Yunyoo-Nasuan Constituency Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Gulari, has disclosed to the media that the newly created Yunyoo-Nasuan District has been closed down since its inauguration in March this year.
“No officer including the District Chief Executive, District Budget Officer, District Accountant can be found at the Assembly premises except the District Coordinating Director who, after the inauguration, left for Tamale leaving the Assembly locked till date”, he said in a statement copied to Savannah News on Wednesday.
“We had thought that creating a new district, Yunyoo Nasuan District from the then Bunkpurugu-Yunuoo District was to mitigate the numerous problems in our marginalized communities: we are yet to see any feasible infrastructure come to the new district by the government of the day.
“However, there has not been any District Chief Executive so appointed by His Excellency, the President of Ghana to head the Assembly as by law established. The Assembly members, we assume, are waiting to see that manifest, the ordinary citizens in the district want work at the Assembly commenced and the opposition, National Democratic Congress in the District cry for development in the area enrolled by the flamboyantly touted Nana, Dr. Bawumia led administration”, statement said.

*HAJIA ALIMA MAHAMA, HON. SOLOMON BOAR FAILED TO TELL NANA ADDO, THE EXISTENCE OF YUNYOO-NASUAN DISTRICT*
Not too long ago – 22nd March, 2018 the Yunyoo-Nasuan Assembly was inaugurated as part of the Nana led Administration to expand decentralization which automatically would translate into development at the local levels. At the inaugural ceremony, so many political talks were said by local government minister, Hajia Alima Mahama and deputy Northern regional minister, Hon. Solomon Boar coupled with statements made by the Northern regional minister, Hon. Salifu Saeed, all on that ground.
The ‘stool,’ as of now still has not been replaced by their much touted ‘armed chair’ these ministers had talked about, for office work to begin in the district after the inauguration. The vigilante opposition National Democratic Congress communication team in this most poorest district and constituency deems it important letting the state of the district capital and the district as a whole known to the President, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo since he, the president did not mention or talk about any plans towards building the Assembly officers, workers Bungalows, and fabricating the only road, if not path, passing through from Bunkpurugu to Yunyoo, the district capital through Namong to Tuna through Kulgona to Nalerigu in the East Mamprusi Municipality.
We will least hesitate to say that it is very disheartening and pathetic to use an Area Council of this cubical nature as ‘an Assembly’ that is not even functioning and no plans put by the local government ministry and the presidency for the take off of the Assembly.
On 21st of July, 2018, H.E. president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo came to Bunkpurugu as part of his three day tour in the northern region and said a lot but without any plans for Yunyoo-Nasuan district. No officer including the District Chief Executive, District Budget officer, district Accountant can be found at the Assembly premises except the district coordinating director who, after the inauguration, left for Tamale leaving the Assembly locked till date.

Our checks indicate that the Yunyoo-Nasuan district has been captured and used by the local government ministry as one of the districts for the anticipated North East Region while the district is not functioning. This, we say that the district was only created to help make up the number for a region but not for decentralization and development purposes.
We therefore wish to apprise the local government ministry and northern region ministry that as a matter of fact and urgency, convey this message to His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to put things together for kick off of the Yunyoo-Nasuan district and its related infrastructural development in the area.
