President’s Nominee For Newly Created Nanton District Confirmed

Mr Abubakari Hati-Rahamani being sworn into office

Nonton, Ghana – Abubakari Hati-Rahamani has secured 100 percent votes to become the first District Chief Executive for the newly created Nanton District Assembly in the Northern Region of Ghana.

All 27 Assembly Members comprising of 7 appointees and 20 elected members voted yes to confirm Mr. Hati-Rahamani.

The retired social worker who worked the Integrated Social Development Centre for many years, expressed appreciation to the chiefs and people of Nanton, Assembly Members, party members and the Northern Regional Minister for working hard to ensure his confirmation.

While acknowledging the numerous developmental challenges that confronts him as he assumes office, he appealed to the Northern Regional Minister, Member of Parliament for the area, Assembly Members and chiefs as well as members of the New Patriotic Party to rally behind him to bring the needed development.

“The District is still facing challenges in the areas of internally generated funds, simmering conflicts, lack of a senior high school, lack of good drinking water, bad roads among others. I wish to make a humble appeal to you Honourable Regional Minister and all of you to assist me to confront these challenges so that the district development would be enhanced”, he opined.

The new DCE for Nanton also thanked President Nana Akufo-Addo for nominating him to serve the people of Nanton and his government.

Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed who swore Mr Abubakari Hati-Rahamani into office, urged him to listen to the Member of Parliament Alhaji Mohammed Hardi Tuferu, the Presiding Member Abdulai Mohammed and all the Assembly Members as he goes about his duties as District Chief Executive.

The Regent of Tolon, Sulemana Issahaka earlier in his remarks, encouraged the DCE not to hesitate to consult him for advice and support if he needs any.

According to the Chief and retired auditor, he knows the DCE for a long time and trust that he is capable of executing the President’s development agenda for the people of Nanton.

The confirmation of Mr Abubakari Hati-Rahamani was preceded by the swearing in into office of the Presiding Member of the Nanton District Assembly, Mohammed Abdulai. Like the DCE, he took the Oath of allegiance, Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy.
