Damongo: Boy, 11, Dies Trying to Rescue Drowning Friend

Damongo, Ghana – An 11 year old boy from Ngbaripe, a suburb of Damongo died on Sunday after drowning in a dam.

Akpeteshie dam is one of the oldest dams in Damongo and it is located opposite the Damongo Health Assistant Trainining School.

The boy who tried to rescue a friend who was drowning succeeded but accidentally got drowned himself.

It took a combined team of rescuers more than seven hours to locate the body of the victim in the water.

His father Mr. Achintir could not control his tears when his son’s body was eventually found.

The Damongo police was at the scene of the accident when the body was retrieved.

The boy has since been buried.
