Damongo: Farmer Kills Wife, Attempts to Take Own Life

Mr. Natomah on Admission at the Damongo Hospital

Jinfranu, Ghana – A 60 year old farmer Adam Natomah, has shot to death his wife at Jinfranu in the North Gonja District of the Northern Region.

The man who shot himself in the neck after killing the wife was rushed to the West Gonja District hospital at Damongo alongside the body of the wife who died on the spot.

Mr. Adam Natomah is a father of eight childeen and husband to the deceased, Madam Adam Salamatu 43, both from Jinfranu, a farming community in the North Gonja District.

According to an eye witness, the victim is mentally challenged who has been threatening the wife with the weapon for over a year now.

According to the eyewitness, one of the children of the victim ceased the gun from the father and kept it in his possession for sometime now until the father requested to work on it.

Mr Adam according to the eyewitness took the gun, loaded it with bullets at the blind side of his son and timed the wife who had gathered her husband’s clothes including hers and was washing.

Mr Adams fired the wife in the ribs without any provocation. Neighbors who heard the sound of the gun rushed to the scene only to meet Madam Salamatu struggling to death.

Mr Adams quickly reloaded the gun, pointed it to his own neck and fired, falling in the process but was rushed to the West Gonja Hospital in Damongo with the body of his late wife by a police patrol team.

Bole based Nkilgi Fm’s Zion Abdul- Rauf followed this story to the West Gonja District Hospital at Damongo and found out that te body of the wife of of Mr Natomah has been released to the family for burial yesterday.

Mr Natomah has however been referred to the Tamale teaching hospital for further medical examination. He was however still inside the West Gonja hospital as at the time of filing the story.
