Sawla: Assembly Members at War With DCE Over Savannah Region Cash

Sawla-Tuna-Kalba DCE

Bole, Ghana – Nkilgi FM is picking information that Assembly members of the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District in the newly created Savannah Region are organising themselves for a vote of ‘No confidence’ against the District Chief Executive (DCE), Lawal Tamimu over accusations that he decided to keep money belonging to them.

The money according to some Assembly members was meant for them to canvas votes for the Savannah Region referendum.

According to the Assembly members, the DCE Mr. Lawal Tamimu was supposed to give each elected Assembly member 600 Ghana cedis and appointed assembly members 250 Ghana cedis.

The report say Mr. Tamimu however gave the elected assembly members 200 cedis each and pocketed 400 Ghana cedis.

The government appointed assembly members got nothing.

Reports Nkilgi FM gathered say the DCE for Bole Madam Veronica Alele Heming however gave every pesewa of the money that was given to her to be given to Assemblymen.

According to the information gathered, upon pressure from a section of the assembly men, Mr. Tamimu decided to refund the remaining 400 Ghana cedis  to his Assembly members with curses and insults.

This among other issues has angered the assembly members to the marrow to the extent that they are determined to remove Lawal Tamimu through constitutional means.

Nkilgi FM spoke to Presiding Member (PM) of the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Mr. Jorwatey to confirm if they are planning to pass a vote of ‘No confidence’ against the DCE and he said he is not aware of any vote of no confidence against the DCE.

He however indicated that if any group of Assembly members are planning a vote of no confidence then it will surely get to him as the Presiding Member.

The Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Presiding Member also said it is true that they had an issue with the DCE over money for the Savannah Region campaign.

He said they mobilised and went to his office two days ago and later the DCE called them and said there was some money meant for all Assembly members but it was with a prominent Chief in the area.

He said the DCE gave them the rest of the money on Monday.
