Sagnarigu, Ghana – MTN Ghana Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of telecom company MTN Ghana, has presented 140 science sets to the Bagabaga Demonstration B Junior High School in the Sagnarigu Municipality of the Northern Region.
The gesture, which is part of the corporate social responsibility initiatives of MTN Ghana, seeks to boost the teaching and learning of science.
Developed by Dex Technology, the MTN branded science sets contain buzzers, capacitors, celluloids, cables and dry cells.
Science set is mainly used to teach electric energy, electromagnetism, light energy and basic electronics among other topics under physics, a branch of science.
Kwasi Osei Hyeaman, a Sales Executive at MTN Ghana in-charge of the Northern Sector, urged teachers of the school to make good use of the science sets.
“Our expectation is that 10, 15 years from now, we would have products of this school working in many sectors of Ghana including MTN”, he said.
Headteacher of the school, Asueme Mary Magdalene, thanked MTN Ghana for their support to the school and promotion of science education.
She was hopeful the donation would be the beginning of a long term partnership between MTN Ghana Foundation and the Bagabaga Demonstration B JHS.
Madam Mary Magdalene also appealed to the foundation to provide additional support to the school by completing a partially-completed three classroom block with offices.
According to her, teachers have no place to neither relax nor sit down to prepare for their lessons, and hoped that by completing the building it could serve as a staff common room.
