Bole: Prof. Frimpong Boateng Inspects Shea Butter, Groundnuts Processing Machines

Bole, Ghana – The Minister for Science and Natural Resources, Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng has inspected plants meant for shea butter and groundnut processing and a mechanised borehole at Kakiase and Chache in the Bole District of the Savannah Region.

The projects are aimed at assisting women and men in doing their daily businesses to a perfection.

Speaking to Bole based Nkilgi FM, the DCE for Bole, Madam Veronica Alele Heming, explained that how important the projects the Minister came to inspect would benefit her people in the Bole District.

The Minister and his entourage first visited Chache, a border town in Bole District and later moved straight to Kakiase to break the ground for the construction of a dam.

Speaking to the Chiefs and elders at Kakiase, Professor Frimpong mentioned that President Nana Akufo-Addo has instructed him to bring about 20 to 30 dams to Northern Ghana and he decided to begin the projects in Gonjaland.

He said the dam at Kakiase will help the community in irrigation and other important activities such as all season farming.

He explained that Bee Keeping, Education, constructing of about 50 dams and the need for peace were all part of their projects.

According to the Minister, there is no much development in Northern Ghana even though government spends so much money to alleviate poverty.

The Kakiasewura whose speech was read on his behalf, highlighted many challenges hindering the community.

He however appealed for Fishing nets, mechanized borehole, agro processing machines and among others.

The Kakiaee Chief also appealed through the DCE for his community members to be part of the dam construction project.

The Minister with his entourage went straight to inspect a borehole given to the community earlier and also broke the ground for the rehabilitation of a dam in Kakiase.

The dam contract has been awarded to Memphis Metropolitan Limited and it is expected to be completed within six months.

The projects are funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Ministry of Science and Natural Resources.

It was all joy for the good people of the communities witnessing such a powerful entourage including the Minister as well as EPA, and UNDP officials and the DCE for Bole.

Meanwhile the Minister Frimpong Boateng and his entourage have since left for Wa to continue other similar projects in the Upper West Region.
