Tamale Hosts Amateur Boxing Competition

Tamale, Ghana – All is set for a super boxing competition tonight at the Tamale Jubilee Park in the Northern Regional capital.

The much publicised upcoming event forms part of activities marking Ghana’s 62nd Independence Anniversary.

The event dubbed, “North against the South” is initiated and sponsored by the McDan Foundation.

The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sae-ed is the Guest of Honour.

For a start, three heavyweight boxers are needed to be sent to the United States of America (USA).

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the McDan group of companies in an interview gave the assurance that the boxing competition would be sustained at all cost.

According to him, the initiative is to get world champions from the north of Ghana.

He said the much awaited competition will have 10 bouts.

A cross section of Tamale residents have lauded the initiative since boxing is a lesser known sporting event in the Northern Region.
