Yendi, Ghana – The Yendi Community Centre was a scene to behold as scores of elated women from the various communities within the area were recognized and celebrated by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah as part of the 2019 Mother’s Day celebration.
This is indeed the first time in the history of Yendi that any individual or group of persons have given recognition and organized an event of such a great magnitude in honour of the women of the Municipality.
Assorted items worth over Six Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC6,000) including hampers and several freebies were presented to the mothers who have over the years impacted the lives of their children and contributed to the peace, unity and socio-economic development of Yendi.
The event brought together several most influential women from the northern region including; Hajia Sauda Saeed (Deputy National Women Organizer of the NPP), Hajia Alima Saeed (Wife of the Northern Regional Minister), Hajia Ayishetu Seidu (MCE for Savulugu), Mrs Adamu Salamatu a.k.a Mama (Chairperson for the occasion), Madam Felicia Tetteh (Northern Region 2nd Vice Chairperson of NPP) and Hajia Adisa Haashmin (Chairperson Danqauh Ladies).
The rest were; Madam Rabi Salifu (Northern Region Deputy Nasara Coordinator of NPP), Hajia Rahinatu Aziz (Northern Regional Women Organizer of NPP), Madam Sanatu Adamu (Yendi Constituency Women Organizer of NPP) and the various branch women executives among others.
In a very emotional speech, the Deputy CEO of MASLOC, Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah shed open tears after seeing, shaking hands with, and embracing the mothers of Yendi present at the occasion without seeing her beloved late mother, Hajia Awabu Mahama who died on 8th October, 2015.
She indicated that, her decision to commit such a huge resource in honour of the mothers was basically to honor them in place of her late mother at celebration of the Mother’s Day.
Hajia Abibata who is also an Aspiring NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Yendi Constituency received praises and several words of encouragement from all the speakers at the occasion, who perceived her unprecedented gesture as historic.
They openly declared their support for Hajia Abibata and described her as very courageous, caring, loving, respectful and visionary woman who has single-handedly offered over 812 direct jobs to youth of the area at different levels and has also empowered many women economically.
Hajia Abibata also used the occasion to announce to the people of her intention to contest the Yendi Parliamentary seat in 2020 to enable her fulfill her dream of transforming the Yendi constituency.
