Wa, Ghana – The Australian Ambassador, H.E. Andrew Barnes, has paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Amidu Issahaku Chinnia, as part of his working visit to the region.
The Deputy Minister commended the Australian government for the support being given to WaterAid to address challenges in the water and sanitation sector in the region.
He thanked the Australian government for the partnership and asked for more support in area of education and also to expand water and sanitation programmes to cover the entire region.
H.E. Andrew Barnes later inaugurated two CHPS Compounds (healthcare facilities) in the Wa Municipality, which they supported to construct.
H.E. Andrew Barnes, advised the Ghana Education Service to incorporate sanitation and waste management activities in school curriculum, so that teachers could impart sanitation and waste management ideas into children to also transfer to their parents at home.
He said, that could help work on the negative attitude that parents have.
