The donation was part of their tradition of supporting the Muslim community in their annual celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, a celebration which marks the end of 30 days fasting known as Ramadan.
“We are here today to extend our warmest regards and most sincere wishes from the management and staff of MTN to you for the relationship we have enjoyed with the Muslim community over the years” Territory Sales Controller Collins Agyei, said this when he presented the items and cash amount of Gh₵2,000.00 on Tuesday June 04, 2019 at the Tamale Central Mosque.
The items comprised 8 bags of rice, 2 boxes of vegetable oil, 4 boxes of tin tomatoes, 1 box of mackerel, 10 cartons of malt and a big ram.
MTN Ghana over last decade has always extended its support to the Muslim community in various ways such as the annual donation to the National Chief Imam, Regional Chief Imams in Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale and Accra as well as the sponsorship of Sallafest in Nima and Accra Newtown.
The Northern Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Abdul-Salam Ahmed thanked the team from MTN Ghana after receiving the items.
He also offered prayers for the team and the MTN group to be more profitable so that they could continue to support the development of the Muslim community and Ghana as a whole.
According to Alhaji Ahmed, Ramadan was a very significant aspect of Islam which teaches values such as patience, integrity, truthfulness and honesty that are good for individuals and institutions.
