Tamale, Ghana – One of the major highlights of the visit by one of Ghana’s leading dancehall artistes to the Northern Region on Friday May 7, 2019, was his enskinment as a traditional ruler by the Dakpemah of Tamale.
Dakpemah Naa Fuseini Bawa said he and his council of elders recognized the brand and professional acumen of Charles Nii Armah known by his stage name Shatta Wale, hence their decision to confer on him a befitting title of “Dancehall Naa” which literally means Dancehall Chief, King or Ruler.
“By this title, you’re now part of the Naa Dakpemah’s council of elders and you shall be accorded with the privileges and honour given to all elders of this palace henceforth”, Naa Fuseini Bawa announced after performing some rites to signify the enskinment of the musician.
By the conferment of this title on Shatta Wale, he is regarded as the King of Dancehall by the chiefs and people in the whole of Tamale.
According to the “I know my level” hitmaker, Tamale is his home because “I have a larger support base here. Back in the days when I was known as Bandana, I used to come here and perform and I was always given massive support by the people”, he recalled.
Dancehall Naa thanked the Dakpemah Naa Fuseini Bawa and his elders for the honour done him.
The award-winning dancehall artiste has a mutually beneficial business relationship with producers of Storm Energy drink, Kasapreko. As a way of enhancing this relationship, Shatta Wale with support from Kasapreko is on a nationwide tour dubbed “Shatta Storm Reign Concert” and his first stop is Ghana’s fourth largest city, Tamale.
The tour seeks to entertain all fans of Shatta Wale and lovers of storm energy drink with music performances from him and other leading artistes in Tamale, key amongst them being Macassio.
The Tamale concert would be held at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Saturday May 8, 2019 and all the over 20 thousand seats in the venue are expected to be filled by fans of mainly Shatta Wale and Macassio.
A Marketing Manager at Kasapreko Company limited, Chris Addo-Sarkodie, commended the people of Tamale for their high patronage of Kasapreko products.
He told residents of the metropolis to also consider the musical event as their Eid-ul-Fitr gift and come out in their numbers on Saturday to attend.
At the time of filing this report, the Shatta Wale fever had already gripped the whole of Tamale and many people especially youngsters were gearing up for the Saturday’s event.
