Bole: CDS Leads Military Delegation to Conflict Town

Bole, Ghana – The Chief of Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Obed Boamah and other high ranking military personal were in Bole on 15th June, 2019 to acquaint themselves with the conflict situation in the area.

The top brass of Ghana’s military first met with the Bole District Security Committee (DISEC) where they were briefed on the situation on the ground by the District Chief Executive Madam Veronica Alele Heming and the Bole District Police Commander ASP Azumah.

The military personnel and members of Bole DISEC visited the scenes of two razed down houses belonging to Chief Bukari (disputed Bolewura), the house of one Alhaji Maliki which was partly destroyed.

The house and plush Guest House of Tingawura Alhaji Sampson Seidu which had some parts destroyed on the day of the recent disturbances at Bole on Eid day 5th June, 2019 was also inspected.

The Bole Traditional Area has witnessed a recurring chieftaincy conflict between two factions laying claim to the traditional authority which became vacant sometime past following the death of the last occupant.

As a result of the chieftaincy dispute, a dark to dawn curfew has been in place for many weeks now.
