Sagnarigu, Ghana – General Overseer of Globeserve Ministries International, Reverend Samuel A.K. Dunya, has appealed to the Christian community especially churches to wake up to the growing challenge of injustice which is robbing ordinary citizens off their basic rights and potentials.
According to him, the church has left the issue of justice in the hands of the government for too long and urged leadership of various denominations to take up the challenge to confront injustice anywhere and find solution to it.
“We have exploitative labour, child trafficking, workplace abuse and gender inequality among others so rampant in our society. Today as we speak, we have many children on the Volta Lake as fisherboys fishing and many get drowned because they don’t know how to swim.
“Globeserve Ministries International sees that this one we cannot leave it alone to our government to solve it for us. We need to collaborate with our government agencies, rise up and make sure that we sound a clarion call to all churches that this is the time that all churches must get involve to rescue Ghana from injustice”, Rev. made the appeal in an interview with Savannah News on the sidelines of a day’s conference on social justice.
Organized by Globerserve Ministries International and Westwood Community Church in collaboration with International Justice Mission, the conference seeks to create awareness amongst participants who were largely Christians to see the fight against injustice as part of the gospel of Christ Jesus.
Under the theme “The Role of The Church in Social Justice”, the conference brought together participants from the Upper West, Upper East, North East, Northern and Savannah Regions, key amongst them being religious leaders, traditional leaders and representatives of the Ghana Pentecostal Council and the Ghana Association of Charismatic Churches.
Beyond the conference, Rev. Dunya said “twelve disciples of justice” has been chosen to take up the challenge of going into all communities of Northern Ghana to spread the message of justice amongst citizens so as to bring true peace and development in the country.
The General Over of Globeserve Ministries International also implored the media to use their platforms to support the campaign being embarked upon by his ministry so that together, the war against social injustice can be won.
Country Director of Zera Missions Africa, Rev. John Issahaku who chaired the conference commended Globeserve Ministries International for their foresight in putting together such a wonderful initiative that seeks to fight for others rights.
