NHIS Embarks on Mass Registration

Accra, Ghana – In commemoration of the Civil Service weeklong celebrations, the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) would be embarking on a mass registration exercise within the Ministries enclave in Accra.

Beginning Monday 4th to Thursday 7th November, NHIS officials would be at some designated locations for the exercise where there would be broad awareness creation on the Mobile Renewal Service and other benefits.

Civil servants, their families and the general public would have the opportunity to register and renew their membership.

At a meeting with a delegation from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Head Office, Head of Civil Service, Nana Kwesi Agyekum Dwamena described the NHIS partnership as an integrated approach to programmes and policies implementation.

Head of Public Relations at the Office of the Head of Civil Service, Tony Goodman said such a partnership is required to open the frontiers of the Civil Service for more collaborations.

The NHIA delegation comprised, Madam Stella Adu-Amankwah, Acting Deputy Director Corporate Affairs, Mr. Oswald Essuah-Mensah, Deputy Director Marketing, Mr. Raymond Avinu, Deputy Director, Monitoring and Reginal Operations and Abdul Karim Naatogmah, Manager, Corporate Affairs and Media Relations.

NHIS Registers CEOs and Board Chairpersons

In a related development, a considerable number of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and Board Chairpersons of state owned institutions registered onto the scheme.

They were registered at the Annual Retreat for CEOs and Board Chairpersons of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) held at Mankessim in the Central Region, Sunday 15th September, 2019.

Similarly, management and staff of 21 media houses in the Greater Accra Region have so far been covered.

This is the outcome of pragmatic outreach programs taken by management of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to increase the Scheme’s membership across board.

The ongoing registration exercise is part of the NHIA’s ambitious agenda to boost its membership drive in connection with attaining the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by the 2030.

While the participants were sensitized on the NHIS mobile money renewal service, copies of the NHIS Subscriber Handbook were distributed.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NHIA, Dr. Lydia Baaba Dsane-Selby and her Deputies as well as the Authority’s Board Chair, Prof. Yaw Adu-Gyamfi were there.
