Tamale, Ghana – Chairman of International Presbytery at Fountain Gate Chapel International, Reverend Clement Anchebah, has indicated that the future belongs to the youth of Ghana and urged young people to build the right capacity to take charge of responsibilities in every area of life.
He observed that, the current generation did not like to learn from the wisdom of the older generation saying “it is important that the new generation learn from the older ones in order to understand certain fundamentals that would enable them to build upon the new knowledge they have acquired”.
Speaking at Fountain Gate Chapel International’s “Revival 2019” programme at the Tamale campus of the University for Development Studies on the topic “The challenges of the new generation”, he said a generation that was so knowledgeable but did not apply wisdom shall not go far.
Citing the story of the biblical prodigal son in the book of Luke chapter 15:11-32, Rev. Anchebah pointed out that, it was ignorance and lack of wisdom that made the son of a wealthy man to fail miserably after taking possession of his share of inheritance from the father and squandering all in a faraway country.
“If you look at the prodigal son, he came and said give me and his father gave him what he was due. He went and failed because he did not have the capacity to be his own manager. After he failed, he came back to the father and said make me your maid servant. So it’s important to build capacity first before venturing into any serious leadership position.
“The new generation need the wisdom, direction and understanding of the older generation in order to go far. The older generation also need to know that they cannot force the new generation to use what they know because that is wrong. God has planned things in such a way that the world will be able to take care of itself and take care of succeeding generations by certain changes that come in,” he emphasized.
Rev. Anchebah expressed regret that many businesses were dying owing to lack of capacity by the younger generation who succeeded their fathers after they died. “It is because they did not take time to learn from their fathers’ how they started the business. Look at Benz, it has existed for over 100 years and it is still succeeding long after the original owners died”.
The Chairman in charge of the International Presbytery at Fountain Gate Chapel International later consecrated nine members of the church. The significance of that exercise, he explained, was to officially appoint the individuals as workers of the church.
“They are to assist their pastors at the various branches of Fountain Gate Chapel where they worship. As they work, some will eventually grow to become ordained pastors of the church and some may continue to stay where they are as workers”, he explained.
Revival 2019 is an annual event of member churches of Fountain Gate Chapel International in the Northern Region. It is an open event to all especially Christians in the Tamale Metropolis and its adjoining districts to come together to have fellowship, pray for peace and prosperity of Northern Ghana as well as the unity of the body of Christ..
Ministering alongside Rev. Anchebah is the founder of Fountain Gate Chapel International, Rev. Joseph Eastwood Anaba. The event which started on Wednesday is expected to end on Friday.
