N/R: NPP Petitions Radio Tamale Over Mistreatment

The uninvited guest by name Iddrisu Hardi Pagazaa and member of the opposition National Democratic Congress stormed the radio station unexpectedly Saturday morning to stop the party’s Regional Communications Officer, Dr. Mahama Shaibu who was duly invited by producer of the programme to participate in discussions alongside his colleague and Regional Director of Communications of the NPP, Mr. Sule Salifu.

Savannah News gathered from media report that, Mr. Iddrisu Hardi holds the view that Dr. Shaibu who is supposed to be his boss is not an elected party officer and therefore, is not recognised by the NDC’s constitution.

Having arrived at Radio Tamale ahead of Dr. Shaibu, Mr. Iddrisu Hardi protested according to a report on the station’s website that, “Dr. Mahama would only be allowed on the program if he was introduced by the host as a resource person and not someone speaking on behave of the NDC”. This authoritative statement from Iddrisu Hardi compelled the NPP’s representative, Mr.  Sule Salifu to walk out of the studios of Radio Tamale in spite of pleas from the production team.

In a statement signed and copied to Savannah News, Mr. Sule Salifu registered the NPP’s displeasure against the way and manner in which today’s programme was produced and managed by the station.

“…….But we request the following of you to ensure sanity and guruntee our continuous participation in that program.

“That your producers render an unqualified apology to the Director of Communications of the NPP in person and party as a whole. The party and director went to great lengths in preparation for the program, only to be messed up by poorly produced program managers”, portions of the statement said.

Below is the NPP’s statement:

The Manager,
Radio Tamale,
Tamale, NR.

Dear Sir,

PROTEST AGAINST POOR PRODUCTION AND MANAGEMENT OF SATURDAY 11TH JANUARY, 2020 POLITICAL PROGRAM (BOOT FOR BOOT) AT YOUR STATION

The Northern regional communications team of the NPP wish to, by this letter, file a protest against the way and manner in which today’s programs was produced and managed at your station.

This has been necessitated by the shameful incident in your studios this morning that abruptly brought to an end a well advertised program. We do not intend to reharsh the shameful conducts of the two gentlemen who came supposedly on behalf of the NDC. But we request the following of you to ensure sanity and guruntee our continuous participation in that program.

  1. That your producers render an unqualified apology to the Director of Communications of the NPP in person and party as a whole. The party and director went to great lengths in preparation for the program, only to be messed up by poorly produced program managers.

  2. That you find a way to resolve representation issues of the NDC to avoid bloody clashes as we nearly witnessed. We do not care who represents the NDC, but we will not come around to waste precious time resolving infantile conflicts of the NDC regional communications team in your studios.

  3. That you give us a firm assurance of serenity in your programs productions. We do not want to be associated with anything untoward.

We look forward to hearing from you at the earliest possible time.

Thank You!

Signed
Sule Salifu
(Director of Communications, NR)
