Brigadier General Moses Aryee, GOC, Northern Command

Nyohini, Ghana – The Northern Command of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) over the weekend celebrated the 2019 end of year West African Security Services Association (WASSA) event in the Northern Regional capital, Tamale.

“Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, the year 2019 was quite a busy one for the Command. The Command successfully conducted operations in conjunction with sister security agencies to ensure a peaceful investiture of the Ya-Na. The Command also successfully hosted the 62nd Independence Anniversary celebration which for the first time was held outside Accra. This saw the movement of large number of troops and resources from the South to join us in Tamale to celebrate the occasion. The Command also conducted Ops KOUDANGLGOU, within the border areas of the 5 Northern Regions together with other Security Agencies and our neighbouring African Countries. The operation was largely successful as it saw the arrest of several persons both locals and foreigners engaged in illegal activities within the country. Op CONQUERED FIST which is an anti-terrorism operation which we commenced last year is still ongoing”, he stated.

Brigadier General Moses Aryee applauded the officers, men and women as well as civilian employees of the command for their immense contribution to a successful 2019.

“Aside these special operations, the Command has also superintended over Units in discharging their internal operational responsibilities with precision even in the face of numerous challenges. Whiles we commend ourselves for a job well done, I will continue to count on your unflinching loyalty and support as we move the Command forward. Our civilian-employees and families have equally played their supportive roles towards the Commands mission accomplishment for the year and I wish to commend them sincerely and ask for their continuous dedication and support”, he said.

Brigadier General Moses Aryee also acknowledged with appreciation the support from other sister security agencies whose cooperation contributed immensely in achieving peace and tranquillity in the region.

The GOC described the year 2020 as a critical one in the calendar of the Nation as Ghana heads to the polls to elect a President and Parliamentary candidates for the country.

He used the platform to assure Ghanaians that the military will remain professional in discharging their duties to ensure peaceful elections within the 5 Regions of the North.

The event brought together officers and men of the Ghana Armed Forces of the Northern Command, invited officers and men from other security agencies, officials of government institutions and members of the general public.

The annual celebration of WASSA is a source of merry making and avenue for socialization after a long year of hard work for service men and women as well as their families and friends.
