Tamale, Ghana – Mobile Money Implementation Controller in charge of Northern Ghana at MTN, Richmond Mensah Darfah, has commended the general public for their continuous support during the company’s annual blood donation exercise on St. Valentine’s Day.
According to him, one of the many ways Ghanaians can show support and love to other people on a day like that is through the donation of blood to save precious lives in hospitals.
Speaking to the media in Tamale during a blood donation exercise organised by MTN Ghana Foundation in partnership with the National Blood Bank and the Tamale Teaching Hospital on St. Valentine’s Day, Mr. Darfah appealed to the public not to relent on their benevolence whenever they are asked to donate blood.
The nationwide exercise saw the collection of 1,051 pint of blood from five different donation centres in the Northern and Savannah Regions. The centres are the Northern Regional Library, Tamale Senior High School, Business Senior High School, Yendi and Damongo Senior High School.
Blood donation exercise by MTN Ghana Foundation and its partners started as a staff initiative some nine years ago and gradually has grown to become a nationally accepted culture.
The blood collected at the various centres would be distributed to some district hospitals and remaining stocked at the blood bank of the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
