Ramadan: MTN Donates Food Items to Muslim Community in Northern Region

Tamale, Ghana – Telecommunication Company, MTN Ghana, has as part of their tradition of supporting the Muslim Community in every Ramadan, donated several food items worth Gh₵5,000 to the Northern Regional Chief Imam.

The company also presented airtime worth Gh₵500.00 to the Chief Imam Alhaji Abdul-Salam Ahmed.

Northern Sector Area Sales Manager of MTN Ghana, Obed Adu-Amankwaah who led a team to make the donation, said it was part of the company’s own way of showing support to religious groups like Islam and its followers in the country especially in this period of fasting.

He commended the muslim community in the region and country at large for their commitment to doing business with MTN Ghana over the years.

“MTN will continue to provide every Ghanaian including Muslims the best of services in this period of Ramadan, covid-19 and beyond. Let’s all continue to follow all the safety protocols by the health authorities”, Obed said this when he made the donation Thursday at the Tamale Central Mosque.

The items included 10 small bags of rice, 10 boxes of vegetable oil, 20 cartons of mineral water, 20 cartons of soft drinks and a ram.

MTN Ghana over last decade has always extended its support to the Muslim Community in various ways such as the annual donation to National Chief Imam, Regional Chief Imams in Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale and sponsorship of Sallafest in Nima and Accra Newtown.

The Northern Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Abdul-Salam Ahmed thanked the team from MTN Ghana after receiving the items.

He also offered prayers for the team and the MTN group to be more profitable so that they could continue to support the development of the Muslim community and Ghana as a whole.

According to Alhaji Ahmed, Ramadan was a very significant aspect of Islam which teaches values such as patience, integrity, truthfulness and honesty that are good for individuals and institutions.
