DCE For Sekyere East Sacked

Sekyere East, Ghana – The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere East District Assembly in the Ashanti Region Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo has been relieved of her duty.

Upon the orders of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, she is to vacate office with immediate effect.

This comes at the back of a tape recording on which the sacked DCE was heard asking the other party in the conversation to lead a mass skirt and blouse campaign in the area to the advantage of an independent candidate, Alfred Quarshie.

On the tape, the beleaguered DCE described the Mponuahene of Asokore Traditional Area who doubles as the Chief of Okaikrom, Nana Akwantey Boffour and his colleagues as “Gyimifuo” to wit fools.

Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo’s gross misconduct was in clear violation of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo’s incessant calls for all NPP loyalists to desist from such treacherous act.

Assembly members in the district were up in arms against Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo’s gross insubordination.

According the aggrieved Assembly members, she has become a thorn in the flesh of residents of the district.

The Assembly members in a statement accused the DCE of breaching procurement rules and awarded sham contracts to her cronies.

One of the Assembly members, Atta Duruye Ernest in a live interview on Accra based NEAT FM’s political show, ‘The Torch Light’ called for immediate investigations into the DCE’s questionable behavior.

On December, 18, 2019, Accra based Peace Fm reported that the Sekyere East DCE assaulted the 78 year old Mponuahene of Asokore Traditional Council.

The angry Chief narrated that, Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo pushed him after a heated argument on whether the Member of Parliament [MP] for the area, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie should be involved in inaugurating a health facility at OKaikrom, a suburb of the Asokore Township.

The Chief confirmed that the hardworking Legislator completed and furnished the magnificent health facility which was abandoned in 2007 as initiated by the late former MP, Mrs. Grace Coleman in 2007.

Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo insisted that he, the MP, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie should not be invited to grace the inaugural ceremony.
“My disagreement led to a near bout. The DCE pushed me and I nearly fell on the floor,” the Chief recounted.
