Letter To The Young Minister

LETTER TO THE YOUNG MINISTER

Dear young minister,

Youthful exuberance could be an advantage in ministry, as it could be a disadvantage!

Personally, i have been behind the pulpit for almost a decade. I spent most of my university days as a Christian leader. President of AGCM for two consecutive terms, PRO for Student’s Christian Council and Chairman/ President of Students’ Christian Council in my final year. Not very long after school, I was active in travelling ministry until grace was granted us to start the Amazing Grace Commission in September as a ministry and January 2017 as a local church.

In due time, i will share my personal experiences, both high and low in ministry, from the young minister’s prism. Let me however, put these few points out.

1 Ministry is serious business. Young minster, i am sure we all enjoy the claps, pomp and pageantry on Facebook and other social media handles. My question is, does your status on social media commensurate with your spiritual stature.? Are you as frequent in the courts of Zion as you are on social media?

2 Don’t be deceived, visibility on social media does not guarantee recognition in the chambers of authority. You may have gained popularity among mortals but exotic among spirits.

3 Suits or hills, are not ministry. Young minister, does this ring a bell?
Not until focus shifts from self to kingdom matters, we are of all men, most miserable! How ready are you to be invisible, for God to be visible?

4 The work of the ministry, is about the people, not the minister. Beware, least you arrogate to yourself a superstar status, relegating to the background your assignment.

5 The gift, is not the ministry. The proclivity to see the gift as the ministry is high especially when men celebrate same. It is not wrong to be celebrated for your gift. Do not let the applauds get into your head to the extend that you forget the work of the ministry. No man is called into ministry for the purposes of manifesting only spiritual gifts. Do not vacate your post!

6 Honour is key to sustainability. I mean true and genuine Honour. Gifts and manifestations of same are not sufficient to keep you afloat. Recognize authority and honour same. Water does not flow uphill!

7 Seek and hunger after knowledge. We will be better ministers if we invest half the energy we use to seek for “power” to knowledge. The gift for which you are celebrated today, tomorrow, will become as common as bread. Much younger ministers will arise with even wild manifestations.

8 I can bet my last coin on this; only the dead see God.
