NGOs Urged to Invest in Technology

Tamale, Ghana – Non-profit organisations have been urged to seriously consider investing in simple technologies that can aid them to do their work with ease an efficiency.

According to the Executive Director of Grassroots Sisterhood Foundation (GSF), Fati Alhassan, who made the call at a Zoom training programme in Tamale said the disruption of the workplace by the coronavirus pandemic should be a wakeup call to all organisations.

She encouraged management of all nonprofit organisations to adopt the use of simple technologies such as Zoom, drobox and others that could make them more efficient and also reduce administrative cost in other areas.

“With Zoom application for instance, organisations can now hold meetings with their staff during emergencies without necessarily having to meet face-to-face. People can now attend important international conferences via zoom. This saves cost of renting venues for meetings, providing lunch, transportation and accommodation among others.

“Also, many organisations no longer allow some staff to come to work on a daily basis. Only key staff report to work in the office and the rest work from home and submit their report via drobox, another important application”, Madam Fati pointed out.

The one-day training programme was organized by GSF. GSF is a non-profit organisation based in Tamale in the Northern Region. The organisation works with rural women and their communities in the region where poverty and inequality have made many women and young girls vulnerable.
