MTN Momo Awards: Manager of Quicktel Takes Home a Toyota 4X4 Rush as Overall Winner

Tamale, Ghana – Mohammed Haruna, an MTN Mobile Agent in Buipe in the Savannah Region, has been adjudged the overall winner of the 2020 MTN Momo Awards for Northern Ghana.

The Manager of Quicktel Ventures was awarded alongside 30 MTN Merchants, Agents, Mobile Agents and Area Accounts Developers in Tamale Wednesday. The awardees were given certificates, mobile phones, television sets and motorbikes.

Mr Haruna expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for finding him worthy among hundreds of agents to crown him the best agent in Northern Ghana.

He promised to continue to work extra harder by collaborating with the company to drive more sales in the Buipe area and other parts of the Central Gonja District.

The Tamale Metropolitan Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Iddrisu Tanko who was Guest of Honour, urged MTN Ghana to fortify places where their agents and merchants operate so that they are not attractive to criminals especially thieves and armed robbers.

“They should ensure that they provide security especially those of them who have grown to keep large sums of money which they require for their operations…. any excess money that you do not need for the operations of the day, lodge at the bank and be safer at your location.

If it is possible, try and install CCTV cameras. This will give you the opportunity of hindsight to observe what people do around you while you are busy transacting your mobile money business. Also try to know your customers. It’s a good habit for a banker and in this regard a mobile money vendor to know first-hand your customers such that if there’s a new person [customer] you’ll be able to monitor the person’s activity and know exactly the motive of the person’s presence”, he admonished.

Chief Supt. Tanko also advised mobile money vendors to try and have the police emergency numbers as well as sit at properly marked locations so that in the event they are attacked by criminals they (police) can quickly respond to affect a rescue.

Senior Manager at MTN Ghana responsible for General Trade (North), Simon Amoh, commended all trade partners for their unrelenting support even in the face of the covid-19 pandemic outbreak.

He encouraged other agents and merchants who could not be nominated for the awards to continue to stick to the principles of MTN Ghana and work hard for what the future holds.
