Sissala Chiefs Meet President Akufo-Addo;Remind Him of Their Share of Projects

A JOINT COMMUNIQUÉ BY PARAMOUNT CHIEFS OF THE SISSALA LAND TO H.E. THE PRESIDENT (6th May, 2021)

All the Paramount Chiefs of the Sissala Land have met and resolved to seek audience with Your Excellency to discuss some pertinent issues peculiar to the Sissala Land. We are therefore grateful, that Your Excellency has given the approval to meet with us, the Sissala Chiefs. We humbly crave Your Excellency’s indulgence to put these “pertinent issues” in a communique form for your kind attention please:

1. We want to first and foremost congratulate you and your party, the NPP on winning the December polls to continue the good work for four (4) more years.

2. We strongly commend you for your “Agenda Eighty-Eight (88) District Hospitals” across the country. A number of these hospitals are earmarked for the Sissala Area and we are very grateful for this excellent gesture- one to be built at Lambusie District, one at Sissala West District (Gwollu) and one in Wa East (Funsi). We only appeal to HE to speed up the construction of these lifesaving edifices.

3. HE has pledged to build TVET schools in Sissala East and Sissala West. We are grateful for such a generous heart and wish to thank you in this regard. We humbly remind you about the pledges you made at Paaragbielle Festival when you visited Tumu and another pledge at the Jubilee House, when the Pulima Traditional Council paid a courtesy call on HE.

4. We also are very grateful for the various road contracts ongoing within the Sissala Enclave, except to add that, the Wa-Hain-Tumu-Bolga Highway has been in a deplorable state for a very long time. We appeal to His Excellency to intervene on our behalf by conferring with the Hon. Roads Minister to hasten the construction by paying constructors their certificates due them to enable the work to continue smoothly. Also, the Tumu-Gwollu-Hamile road should be looked at, while not leaving out Tumu-Walembelle-Wahabu Road.

5. We equally appeal to His Excellency to complete the community day schools under construction at Zini (Sissala West) which is about 80% complete. It may need a minimal additional budgetary allocation to complete and Walembelle (Sissala East). In fact the one at Mystical: Walembelle, we appeal, should be expanded and named after the late Walembelle Kuoro, Kuoro Mumuni Dimbie of blessed memory.

6. The Sissala Land is the food basket of the Upper West Region and by extension, the country in terms of cereals and legumes production. We understand there are some Agricultural Roads package to access the hinterland that engages in the real food production. We appeal to be considered.

7. We conclude by a further appeal to HE to include sons and daughters of our land in government especially in the areas of CEOs, Deputy CEOs, Boards, among others. We will in support of your efforts to execute the good policies of your government, put at your disposal our capabilities to mobilize our people towards collectively prosecuting your agenda for development.

We are so grateful for your audience please. Thank you for the opportunity.
