Nadowli: Lawyer Sory Donates To Victims of Flood Victims

Nadowli, Ghana – Legal luminary Thaddeus Sory has donated asorted items to flood victims in the Nadowli-Kaleo area in the Upper West Region.

The items are 100 bags of rice, 100 bags of cement and 100 student mattresses.

Mr Sory made the donation following an appeal made by the Member of Parliament for Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency Anthony Mwinkaara Sumah and incoming District Chief Executive for the Nadowli District Assembly Catherine Lankono.

Presiding Member for the Nadowli District Assembly, Osbert Dambia together with the Member of Parliament and the President’s nominee for the position of DCE received the items from Lawyer Sory.

The Presiding Member thanked Lawyer Sory for the kind gesture and assured that the items would reach all the flood victims.

It would be recalled that in August this year, flood waters caused unprecedented devastation to homes, farmlands and roads in the Nadowli District and other parts of the Upper West Region.

According to the Upper West Regional Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organisation, over 722 farmlands were completely washed off, 336 persons displaced and over 155 houses destroyed bringing the total number of people affected to about 1605.

The MP for Nadowli Kaleo after donating some relief packages back in August this year, called on benevolent individuals and organizations to support the recovery process for the victims.

He also indicated that he had reached out to some organizations and prominent individuals and was hopeful of positive feedback in that regard.

Mr Anthony Sumah expressed his profound gratitude to Lawyer Sory for his kind intervention.
