Tamale, Ghana – President and Chief Executive Officer of Charger Group, Dr Emmanuel Bortey Borketey has underscored the need for the people of Upper East Region especially the haves to show compassion to the less privileged.
Addressing various stakeholders in his visit to the Upper East Region and as part of the celebration of his birthday on Thursday June 23rd, Dr Bortey Borketey said “giving to others should not only be done when we have in abundance but even when we have barely enough.”
As part of activities to mark his birthday celebration, the astute businessman and philanthropist, through the corporate social responsibility arm of the Charger Group, Happy Man Foundation, made donations to various needy groups within the Upper East Region.
The Foundation donated assorted items and cash amounting to over Gh¢54,000.00 to God’s Love Kid’s Home in Soe, Timataaba Children’s Home in Gbeogo in Talensi and some 30 selected needy widows at the Bolgatanga Social Centre.
Some of the items donated included bags of rice, cooking oil, bathing soap and washing soap, tin tomatoes, toiletries, toothbrushes, baby diapers, books, baby wipes, baby foods, biscuits, stationeries and Happy Man Plus 1 Beverages.
Meanwhile, Dr Bortey Borketey also pledged a monthly stipend of Gh¢1000.00 to support the kids of the two orphanages for the next 12 months.
