Tamale, Ghana – One of the major highlights of his visit to the Upper East Region was the launch of the corporate social responsibility arm of the Charger Group of Companies.
Dr Emmanuel Bortey Borketey, Founder and President of Charger Group, producers of Happy Man Bitters and Plus Products, decided to launch the Happy Man Foundation outside of Accra the headquarters of his business.
Known for always extending a helping hand in cash or in-kind to the Less privileged in society, Dr Bortey Borketey has been a great benefactor to many individuals, groups and businesses in the Upper East Region for many years now.
Giving has been his chosen trajectory for so many years, and it is not surprising that the Upper East Region which has benefited alot from his benevolence would be the place of choice to launch the Foundation for all his businesses.
According to him, “the Happy Man Foundation is birthed with a core mandate to put smiles on the faces of the less fortunate, less privileged and vulnerable in society.”
Marking its first presentation as a Foundation, Dr Bortey Borketey led a team of staff from the Charger Group headquarters to make donations to various needy groups within the Upper East Region on Thursday 23rd June which was also his birthday.
The Foundation donated assorted items and cash amounting to over Gh¢54,000.00 to God’s Love Kid’s Home in Soe, Timataaba Children’s Home in Gbeogo (Talensi) and some 30 selected needy widows at the Bolgatanga Social Centre.
Some of the items donated included bags of rice, cooking oil, bathing soap and washing powder, tin tomatoes, toiletries, toothbrushes, baby’s diapers, books, baby wipes, baby foods, biscuits, stationeries, Happy Man Plus 1 and Beverages.
Meanwhile the businessman and philanthropist pledged an amount of Gh¢1000.00 monthly to support the kids of the orphanages for the next 12 months.
