Accra, Ghana – Melcom Care Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Melcom Group, has made a generous donation of twenty-five medical refrigerators to health facilities across the country including the Upper West Regional Hospital.
The donation, which happened on Wednesday July 31, 2024 at Melcom Spintex in Accra, was part of efforts to bridge care gaps between urban and rural communities in the country.
Director of Communications at Melcom Group, Godwin Avenorgbo, said there was a huge gap in healthcare between the urban and rural communities in Ghana, management’s decision to present the medical refrigerators to selected healthcare facilities to enable them store their medical supplies safely, maintain regulatory compliance, and ultimately provide better patient care.
Mr. Avenorgbo appealed to other Corporate Institutions to identify and collaborate with health experts to address disparities in the healthcare sector in the country by providing essential medical equipment to ensure speedy service delivery.
Dr. Robert Amesiya, the Medical Director of the Upper West Regional Hospital, expressed his gratitude, stating, “We deeply appreciate Melcom’s generous contribution to health care in our region and we assure you we will put it to good use”.
He added: “This medical refrigerator will significantly enhance our ability to store medical supplies safely and improve patient care.”
