Zebilla, Ghana – Two new 3-unit classroom blocks have been inaugurated at Bulinga Primary School and Guzongo Primary School in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region of Ghana.
This was through the efforts of Frank Fuseini Adongo, Deputy Minster for Upper East Region and Member of Parliament for Zebilla Constituency and Victoria Ayamba, the District Chief Executive for Bawku West.
With education known to be the bedrock of development of any society, the two projects are expected to enhance school enrolment by expanding access to many children.
Inaugurating the two schools, Mr. Frank Fuseini Adongo, said the projects were very important because of the importance the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo attaches to education, which he saw as one of the basic necessities of life that opens doors of opportunities to every individual who takes it seriously.
Mr. Fuseini indicated that the NPP government had made a firm commitment to contribute to developing the less privileged communities in the country and was confident that the two schools would achieve their intended purpose.
Also, the two schools would be provided with potable water. The drilling of two boreholes will start soon according to MP.
The DCE, Victori Ayamba, said she hoped no child would miss the opportunity to derive benefits from the classroom blocks intended to provide a good base for children to begin to create their own future through continuous learning.
She challenged the teachers to be more committed to their duties as teachers.
The DCE also urged the community members to ensure maintenance of the facilities to prolong their lifespan.
She further advised parents especially, mothers to stop the habit of sending their children to funeral homes to represent them at the expense of their education.
The people of the two communities commended the government for the kind gesture, and appealed for other social interventions for the area.
The MP and DCE also visited the Sapeliga Health Centre which had been captured in the 2019 budget for renovation by the Bawku West District Assembly.
In the early hours of Wednesday, Madam Victoria Ayamba handed over 210 fabricated metal and wooden dual desks to Madam Cecilia Assibi Sumaila, the District Director of Education to address shortages in some schools.
