Tamale, Ghana – Chief Executive Officer of Carepoint and Chairman of Golden Palm Investments Corporation, Chief Dr. Sangu Delle will be honoured alongside dozens of high profile personalities including the Director-General of the World Health Organization at the 13th edition of Grow, Unite, Build Africa (GUBA) Awards in Kigali, Rwanda.
The ceremony, slated for September 29, will see Chief Dr. Delle who is also the Maalu Naa of Nandom Traditional Area receive the “Entrepreneurial Spirit Award”
at the Kigali Convention Centre.
The GUBA Awards 2022 “seek to celebrate a historical hero within the Rwandan and African communities,” a statement on GUBA website said.
Under the theme ‘Ndabaga – Drumbeat of Dreamers and Legends’ “the Awards strive to convey the power of determination and focus.
The story of Ndabaga is a keystone of Rwandan folklore representing bravery and determination”, the statement added.
Furthermore, the statement pointed out, “If ever there was a time to unite and celebrate the best of diversity, it is now. It is incredibly important to recognize the achievements of role models and community organizations across the world that deserve recognition for their work and impact, so that we as Africans, can tell our own stories.”
The GUBA Awards, aim to reward individuals who continue to persist and show great courage within their various fields.
As CEO of Carepoint formally Africa Health Holdings, owners and operators of Carepoint Hospitals in Ghana and Nigeria, Chief Dr. Sangu Delle has demonstrated great courage and leadership acumen in the last decade of his life.
At a young age of 35, his tall achievements in the areas of finance, investments, entrepreneurship, health and philanthropy has seen him being celebrated locally and internationally by many prestigious organizations.
He is a 2021 World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, Harvard Black Students’ Association 2020 Legacy Award recipient, New Africa Magazine “100 Most Influential Africans of 2019”, EMY 2019 Award for Young Male Achiever of the Year, Africa CEO Forum Finalist for “Young CEO of the Year”, Africa Youth Awards “100 Most Influential Young Africans”, and three times winner of Forbes top 30 most promising entrepreneurs in Africa.
Between 2007 and 2022, Cleanacwa now Sangu Delle Foundation impacted over 200,000 people across 160 communities in Ghana with clean water and sanitation resources.
Golden Palm Investments Corporation which is founder, has backed startups such as Andela, mPharma, Flutterwave and GPI portfolio companies to raise over $1.2 billion in venture financing.
Chief Dr. Delle is a Trustee of Peddie School, Board member of Ashesi University, member of the Harvard Medical University School Dean’s Global Health and Service Advisory Council, Co-chair of the Leadership Council of Harvard’s Center for African Studies and a member of Harvard University’s Joint Committee on Alumni Affairs and Development.
Chief Dr. Delle graduated with a bachelor of arts (highest honors) in African Studies and Economics from Harvard College, a Doctor of Law from Harvard Law School, a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School, Masters in International Human Rights Law from Oxford University and a PhD in African Studies and Anthropology from the University of Birmingham.
He is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the District of Columbia. Chief Dr. Delle is the author of Making Futures:Young Entrepreneurs in a Dynamic Africa, which was shortlisted for the Financial Times/Mckinsey Bracken Bower Prize for best business book by an author under age 40.
