Accra, Ghana – In a significant development aimed at boosting technological advancements and artificial intelligence (AI) training in Ghana, the Vanuatu Trade Commission Ghana and the Ghana Digital Centre Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The ceremony took place on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Ghana Digital Centre in Accra.
His Excellency Ambassador Professor Hugh Keku Aryee, the Vanuatu Trade Commissioner, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the pivotal role the Ghana Digital Centre will play in advancing AI training.
He highlighted that this partnership will significantly benefit Ghana, propelling the country towards greater technological prowess and innovation.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Digital Centre underscored the agency’s position as the “Silicon Valley” of technology in Ghana.
He acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the Vanuatu Trade Commission Ghana and the African Diaspora Bank in realizing this novel training initiative.
The CEO detailed how this collaboration is set to enhance Ghana’s digital landscape, making it a hub for cutting-edge technology and AI development.
Dr. David King Boison, Lead Consultant for AI Africa to the Vanuatu Trade Commission, in his statement before the signing, stressed the importance of Africa, and Ghana, in particular, developing robust data intelligence capabilities to compete on a global scale.
He shared success stories of institutions that have already participated in and benefited from AI training programs in Ghana, demonstrating the transformative potential of such initiatives.
The signing ceremony was attended by numerous staff members from the Vanuatu Trade Commission Ghana, Kwoledge Web Centre Limited, and the Ghana Digital Centre Limited, marking a strong show of support and commitment to this collaborative effort.
This MoU represents a strategic step towards fostering technological growth and innovation in Ghana, setting the stage for enhanced AI capabilities and a brighter digital future for the country.
