DOES JIRA BUIPEWURA JINAPOR HATE HIS OWN SON, JOHN JINAPOR?
1. I write this in pain and upon several resistance not to. I couldn’t resist any longer upon listening to the second part of the Buipewura Jinapor’s speech in which he categorically said he has blessed his son, Abu Jinapor in much the same way he is blessing Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
2. The second version of his speech which has triggered this reaction from me, is where Jira Buipewura unequivocally stated that Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), is not arrogant as being held by majority of Ghanaians, and that Napo is not only from the Manhyia Palace, but equally a son from the Jinapor Palace.
2. Initially, due to my respect for Hon. John Jinapor and the fact that speaking about this issue may escalate the issues further and beyond what we anticipate, I kept a blind eye, but it looks like the issues are worse than I ever anticipated. At any given day, I wouldn’t deliberately conduct myself in a way that will cause the NDC any seat in any part of Ghana, not to talk about a seat from Gonjaland.
3. Also, given how my opinion about the way Jira Buipewura Jinapor was meddling in Damongo Constituency in the 2020 general elections was misconstrued and misinterpreted as disrespect to the Buipewura, I decided to also painfully watch from the observers bench while many things go wrong to the delight of the hypocrites.
4. However, this current situation should not be left to be whitewashed by the hypocrites and the cowards. If this was said by Kpembewura or Bolewura or Wasipewura or Kusawguwura, the reaction would have been different. This is why Gonjaland is where it is today. Treating people differently due to their family names and position in society.
5. For the records, Hon John A. Jinapor is the first son of Buipewura to have been in government. H.E John Mahama picked John Jinapor as a brother and treated Buipewura Jinapor as a father. John was designated a position as the Spokesperson to then Vice President John Mahama. And indeed, John Jinapor was again appointed as Deputy Minister for Power, a position that made him very instrumental in John Mahama’s energy transformation agenda in Ghana. This is a fact that cannot be controverted by any twists or turns. In fact, Abu Jinapor owns his current political glory to John Jinapor, a brother who cares.
6. They say “to whom much is given, equally much is expected.” If H.E John took Buipewura as his father and treated him as such, if nothing can be given as pay back, it is expected for the Buipewura to also treat John Mahama as a son at all times. Buipewura Jinapor could still be diplomatic and conventional in his public statements, and still show to the world that he has a son in John Mahama. Will Buipewura ever invite the NPP Parliamentary Candidate in the Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency and offer such special prayers for him?
7. Going into the 2024 elections, John Mahama’s main contender is Dr Bawumia. During his visit to the Jinapor Palace, Buipewura Jinapor was express and opened with his blessings on Dr Bawumia as a son. He said, “I, Buipewura Jinapor, blessed my Son, Abu Jinapor, and I am placing my two hands on you, Dr Bawumia with the same blessings.”
8. He went further to state forcefully that, he, Buipewura sits on the skins of Gonja and in place of Ndewura Jakpa. In his presence are the Imams, the Fulanis, the landowners, among others, and that is the representation of the Gonja Kingdom. And that, the prayers offered for Dr Bawumia will surely be answered by the ancestors and God ultimately. In effect, the Skins of Gonja and the ancestors of Gonja were called to bless Dr. Bawumia and to hand him victory over John Dramani Mahama.
9. In fact, the Holy Quran was openly recited for the purposes of the visit of Dr Bawumia, which the Buipewura openly referred to as special prayers. What again is left in his palace for John Mahama? Not even the Nayiri’s palace was the whole Quran recited for Dr Bawumia? Why the Jinapor Palace?
10. Napo’s arrogance is not hearsay, frivolous allegations or empty political tagging. His arrogance is demonstratable and can even be quantified. It was in this light that his own father, the Asantehene was very measured not to openly dismiss the arrogance tag on Napo, but only cautioned him to conduct himself to prove the public wrong. In fact, in less than 3 hours after the wise counsel, NAPO rather went out to prove the Asantehene wrong. So, if today, our own Jira Buipewura is fiercely dismissing what Napo himself has by conduct admitted, what is the verdict then?
11. Being a paramount chief for this number of years and given his level of wisdom, I don’t want to believe that Buipewura Jinapor cannot measure the negative effects of his open utterances in this manner on his son, John Jinapor. Anything done by Buipewura especially in Buipe, which attracts negative energy has a direct effect on John Jinapor. This Quranic recitation and the open blessings bestowed on Dr Bawumia cannot be business as usual, when Jira Buipewura himself referred to it as “SPECIAL PRAYERS”.
12. Dr Bawumia visited other paramount chiefs including the Yoo Naa in Savelugu. Out of his wisdom, the Yoo Naa enquired from Dr Bawumia about a road project he, the Vice President came to cut sod for. Meanwhile, right beside Buipewura Jinapor’s palace is a Shea Nut Factory that Dr. Bawumia and his government watched to rot away, driving 100s of youth of Buipe into the streets. Equally, the Buipewura was the one who sat in for Yagbonwura for the sod-cutting ceremony for the Damongo water project, which is yet to be executed.
12. I am just a tiny Kamara boy in the wilderness, and so I cannot be seen to be directing an influential Chief like Buipewura as to what to tell the Vice President. I am only lamenting that in the midst of all these challenges, couldn’t the Buipewura whisper into the ear of Dr Bawumia that they should capture the Buipe Shea Nut factory as part of the 1D1F? At least this whispering could have been done after the “SPECIAL PRAYERS”, and the blessings. We would have appreciated this although, we would still not be happy that you did this against John Mahama.
13. Buipewura Jinapor has two sons in active politics. I don’t know how he handles them in his chambers, but observing from outside, his opened display of affection for Abu Jinapor over John Jinapor is too telling to be dismissed. And this public show of affection to Dr Bawumia, although could be a political repositioning to get Abu fit into the new NPP under Bawunia, such repositioning could be done in another way that will not jeopardize John Jinapor’s political future. The choice of Dr Bawumia over John Mahama by the Buipewura in the open cannot be treated lightly by anybody in Gonjaland who claims to love John Mahama.
This is my opinion! And let me add quickly stare that I hate not the Buipewura and I hate not his family. In fact I don’t hate, I only get disappointed.
