Wa, Ghana – In a groundbreaking move to improve healthcare delivery in rural Ghana, Allina Health and Ghana Medical Help (GMH) have donated three advanced training mannequins to the Upper West Regional Hospital.
The donation is a strategic effort to enhance maternal and child health services through hands-on training for healthcare staff.
Leading the presentation, Dr. Dominic Akaateba, Country Director of GMH, reiterated the organization’s unwavering commitment to supporting under-resourced communities.
He emphasized that the mannequins are vital tools for equipping healthcare professionals with the practical skills necessary for efficient care, while acknowledging Frederick of Allina Health for his instrumental role in securing the mannequins.
The donation was done during a Step- down training on Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) organized by the GMH for staff at both the Upper West Regional Hospital and Wa Municipal Hospital. The training will also be extended to other healthcare facilities across the Upper West and Upper East regions, further expanding its impact.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Medical Director, Dr. Robert Amesiya, was Dr. Gildas Nman-wara, Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Nman-wara expressed heartfelt appreciation to GMH and Allina Health, stating that the mannequins would significantly improve staff and student training, ultimately leading to better healthcare outcomes.
Key officials, including the Hospital Administrator, Nurse Manager, and a cross-section of hospital staff, were present at the ceremony, all expressing their gratitude for the generous support.
