MTN Ghana Foundation Celebrates 23 Newborn babies And Their Mothers at Tamale Hospital

Tamale, Ghana – MTN Ghana Foundation today presented gift hampers to 23 newborn babies delivered on December 25th at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).

The annual event by MTN Ghana Foundation is to celebrate with mothers and their newborn babies by providing them with essential baby items.

Newborn babies in 30 teaching, regional and district hospitals in all the 16 regions of the country received hampers; that is according to Regional Branches Manager, North – Kwami Aseye Akude.

According to Mr. Akude, since MTN Ghana Foundation started the initiative in December 26 2011, newborn babies and their mothers had been celebrated with gift hampers.

“In this we have so many items. We have diapers, wipes, toiletries, toys, towels, bips, a lot of items in it. I can say that over the years including what we’re doing today, we have distributed over 3,000 hampers”, he emphasized.

This year’s is event number 13 with other hospitals such as Damongo’s Saint Anne Hospital, Jirapa’s Saint Joseph Hospital, Yendi Municipal Hospital, Upper West Regional Hospital, Navrongo Hospital and the Upper East Regional Hospital also benefitting from the gift hamper distribution by MTN Ghana Foundation.

Fauzia Adam, Midwife in-charge of the maternity ward at the Tamale Teaching Hospital who received the MTN Team, expressed gratitude to the Foundation for always coming around on December 26 to support and celebrate staff, newborn babies and their mothers.

“We want to say a very big thank you on behalf of the mothers because for the past 3-4 years, you have been putting bigger smiles on the faces of our mothers. You also put smiles on we the staff and we’re very grateful”, Madam Fauzia said.

Alice Bediako, a mother was so happy to receive a gift hamper on behalf of her baby. She prayed for MTN Ghana Foundation saying “We didn’t know they {MTN} were coming to give us gifts. May their business increase”.
