Salaga, Ghana – The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has assured the chiefs and people of Salaga of government’s commitment in terms of fixing the Salaga to Tamale road.
The Vice President gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit to the Kpembewura at his palace in Salaga during his Ramadan tour.
According to the Vice President, the Salaga road is one of the major roads that have been considered for completion by the Akufo-Addo-led government.
He added that cabinet had approved the consideration as such, and that work should start on the road within the shortest possible time.
The Vice President noted that government had fulfilled most of its promises made to Ghanaians within 18months in office, adding that the NDC could not do what the NPP had done for eight years.
When the road is completed, it will link major towns and cities such as Tamale, Yendi, Makango through to Yeji.
Kpembewura Bismark Haruna admonished government to live up to its word and see to the completion of the stretch.
According to the Kpembewura, the bad nature of the stretch has made Salaga an outcast in development, making it difficult for natives to travel, especially in the evenings.
The Kpembewura appealed to government to provide tractors for farmers in the area to make farming flexible for them, indicating that the farmers lack the services of tractors.
He was, however, full of praise for the Akufo- Addo- led government for its many pro-poor policies such as free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs, Nation Builders Cop, 1D1F, among other policies.
