Tamale, Ghana – 007 Youth Group, an offshoot of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) together with other youth groups of the party in the Northern Region, have declared their full support for John Dramani Mahama.
Accordingly, they have pledged to campaign vigorously for him to win the upcoming presidential primaries of the party scheduled to take place in December this year.
Addressing a media briefing in Tamale on Saturday where they declared their support for the former president, leader of the group Warvi-Naa Abdallah Inusah said “it is only John Mahama who can lead the NDC to win election 2020. So we’re supporting him fully to win the primaries and 2020 elections”, he said.
Warvi-Naa Abdallah also indicated that, the development agenda that was initiated by Mr Mahama virtually came to an abrupt end following the defeat of the NDC in the 2016 general elections.
“We believe that, his declaration to contest the 2020 election on the ticket of the NDC has brought alot of hope to the teaming youth in the country. We shall resist any member of our party who try to frustrate the good intentions of His Excellency the former president John Dramani Mahama”, he warned.
Speaking to Savannah News after the media briefing, a member of the 007 Youth Group, Sulemana Mohammed underscored the track record of John Mahama as former president for which reason he said the youth across the various Constituencies in the region strongly believe he would win election 2020 if he is filled as the presidential candidate.
According to Mr. Mohammed popularly known as Yaalana who is also aspiring for the position of Regional Communications Officer, the construction of the Tamale International Airport, Fufulso-Damongo-Sawla road, phases I and II of the refurbishment and upgrading of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, construction of clinics and CHPS Compound in the Northern Region were initiated by John Mahama.
“… this is a man who came to salvage the people of this country from their suffering. Looking at the performance of this government it tells us exactly that there is no man who can lead the NDC possibly to victory in 2020 except John Dramani Mahama because his records are very clear, his achievements are clear, they’re visible….” Yaalana indicated.
Since declaring his intention to contest the presidential primaries of the NDC on Thursday August 23, 2018, former president Mahama has received endorsements from two identifiable groups in the Northern Region. First to endorse his return was the camp of the Chief Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila who is also contesting for the position of Chairman in the Northern Region. The 007 Youth Group and their allies are the second and latest group to also endorse the former President’s return.
