Buipewura Jinapor Marks 10th Anniversary

Buipe, Ghana – The Paramount Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area in the Central Gonja District of the Northern Region, Jira Buipe Wura Abdulai Jinapor II, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his enskinment.

Dr Ahmed Jinapor, lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, who serves as spokesperson for the Buipe Traditional Council, explained to Class FM’s Northern Regional Correspondent Mohammed Gadafi that the theme for the celebration, “Promoting Education and Development through the Chieftaincy Institution”, was chosen to mark a paradigm shift in the socio-cultural dynamics of the country’s educational system.

He noted that the theme is relevant, considering the introduction of the Free Senior High School (SHS) education policy and the implementation of the double-track system, adding, “it is a clarion call on parents and especially chiefs within the Northern enclave to take up the responsibility of contributing positively and effectively to their wards’ development”.

“So for us and for the Buipe Wura, 10 years today is a period that, a lot has changed, a lot has happened and the people of Ghana and Gonja land as a whole must contribute positively to enhance education,” he stressed.

He also urged the youth to embrace the proposed creation of the Savanna Region and vote massively in December during the referendum for the creation of new regions.

Dr Jinapor further disclosed that, as part of measures to improve education in the area, Buipe Wura Abdulai Jinapor established an endowment fund with a seed capital of GHS 50, 000 to support needy but brilliant students in the area to further their education and also build two hostel facilities for the Buipe Vocational and Technical School.

He further indicated that, the chief also introduced a programme to offer financial support to small-scale businesses and peasant farmers in order to boost agricultural production in the area.

The climax of the celebrations will be held in December, 2018.
