N/R: Nambagla Community Gets New School Block

Savelugu, Ghana – The Nambagla community in the Savelugu Municipality of the Northern Region can now boast of a new 3-unit classroom block funded by the Member of Parliament’s share of the Common Fund.

Abdul Samed Gunu on Monday January 21, 2019 officially handed over the project to the school’s management.

He also distributed 500 dual desks to some selected basic schools in the area.

In addition, the Savelugu Legislator handed over two motorbikes to the Savelugu Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to enhance effective supervision and monitoring.

 Abdu Samed Gunu in an interview said education remained his topmost priority, hence the investments in that sector.

This, according to him is to boost the area’s human resource capital.

He promised to help government to solve the problem of infrastructure deficit especially in the education sector there.

He commended government for making it possible for all Junior High School (JHS) graduates to access education via the implementation of the free Senior High School (SHS) programme.

He therefore impressed upon parents and guardians to take advantage of the free SHS programme and send their children to school.

The Savelugu Legislator earlier unveiled his agenda for the construction of two technical Senior High Schools during his first tenure of office.

The schools are to be located at Diare and Moglaa, two major communities’ in the area.

He promised to give the Savelugu District hospital a mjaor facelift.

He said six boreholes have already been constructed in communities that lacked clean water.

Economy

Mr. Samed Gunu pledged to transform the main Savelugu market into a modern one.

He said additional satellite markets will be built in some selected communities to enhance trade.

Abdul Samed Gunu vowed to fulfill all his campaign promises in tandem with the NPP’s 2016 manifesto, to retain the seat at the 2020 general elections.

He thereby appealed to his constituents to deepen their peaceful co-existence as means of attracting investors to the area.

Hon. Abdul Samed Gunu won the 2016 Savelugu constituency Parliamentary election on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He has since been tackling the development challenges there with his focus on education.
