Bole, Ghana – The Bole District Director of Ghana Health Service Mr David Bakuri has said that contrary to speculations in Bole that Typhoid is on the rise in the township, statistics they have indicate situation is not so bad.
Speaking to Bole based Nkilgi Fm, Mr David Bakuri said statistics indicate that only 4 percent of the patients at the Bole district hospital were diagnosed with typhoid and that the hospital has not recorded any death since the beginning of the year.
Some peole in Bole have called on the Ghana health service, Chiefs and Elders, Stakeholders and other philanthropist to come to their aid for better health care and prevention.
A number of people have alleged many have been affected by typhoid in Bole through many ways and so the people are calling on the Ghana Health Service in Bole District ans the Bole hospital authorities do a massive education on proper hand washing, proper heating of left over foods, provision of toilet facilities, washing fruits and vegetables that are eaten raw, discouraging open deification, proper disposal of waste, provision of dust bins at vantage points and using of clean water since they believe all these are responsible for the typhoid fever.
Typhoid is a bacterial infection that can lead to a high fever, diarrhoea and vomiting and can be fatal.
The infection is often passed on through contaminated food and drinking water and it is more prevalent in places where handwashing is less frequent.
